Opened in 2010, the Underground Market is the result of many years of archaeological research that began in 2005. Discoveries made during this work allowed for the creation of a museum combining modern multimedia technology with authentic artifacts and historical structures.

The museum spans approximately 6,000 square meters and lies a few meters below the Market's surface. Exhibits include medieval roads, foundations of former buildings, everyday objects, and even human remains, providing insights into the life of Krakow's past inhabitants.

One of the exhibition’s most impressive elements is an interactive reconstruction of medieval Krakow, allowing visitors to travel back in time and explore city life across different ages. Multimedia presentations, holograms, and projections bring history to life before visitors’ eyes.

The Underground Market is not only an archaeological museum but also a place for education and entertainment. Various workshops, lectures, and presentations are organized here, making Krakow’s history accessible and attractive to different age groups.

This extraordinary location allows uncovering the hidden layers of the city’s past and understanding how Krakow has developed over centuries, preserving its unique cultural heritage. Visiting the Underground Market is a unique opportunity to feel the spirit of past times and see how the past intertwines with the present.
